Having issues with ProBoards? Here are some frequently encountered problems along with solutions.
I have an account, but if I click anywhere after logging in, I get logged back out again! My name appears on the Users Online list, but I see the forum as a guest!
Your browser is not accepting cookies properly. First check to make sure you have cookies enabled. Also, in Internet Explorer 6 you need to make sure that you have 3rd Party Cookies enabled.
To Enable Cookies:
* Click on tools on the menubar on your browser * Click on Internet Options on the drop menu * On the window that pops up, click on the privacy tab * Put the arrow and track so that the arrow is on low * Click ok
To Enable 3rd Party Cookies:
* Click on tools on the menubar on your browser * Click on Internet Options on the drop menu * On the window that pops up, click on the security tab * Click on the custom button * On the little window that pops up, scroll down to where it says cookies, and make sure the radio button is in the enabled position * Click save
In FireFox: tools >> options >> privacy >>
look for the 'cookies' section. Make sure it has 'accept all' ticked, and then click on 'exceptions' and make sure your proboard url isn't in there.
If the above doesn't work, try and delete/Clear Your Cookies and/or Internet History & Try Again (you might have to restart your computer for it to work)
If the above did not work, try selecting 'Forever' when logging in. If that works, then the date and time on your computer are incorrect.
If none of these work, contact the admin at kamiya.kaoru@hotmail.com.
I'm not receiving my Activation Email, Forum/Thread Notices, or Account Approval Email!
Check your junk mail bin. Sometimes they are redirected through the filter.
The newest versions of AOL have the "advanced SPAM blockers" and may make it impossible for Proboards to contact you. Admins may have to manually register members who experience this problem. Or we recommend that these people create temporary free e-mails (IE. http://yahoomail.com).

I was messing around and found something that should be helpful. AOL 9.0 has a Spam Folder in addition to the regular one, but anything lower than 9.0 doesn't. I thought that it simply meant anyone with an older version of AOL couldn't access their Spam folder...but you can.
If you go to AOL Keyword Spam you can set your preferences for the Spam folder and if you go to AOL keyword Spam Folder it'll bring you to the Spam folder.
Note: If you change your email address, you should receive a new activation code.
You can also try adding the following Email address to your "Address Book" (for Yahoo Users) or "allow list" (or whatever you email provider has similar to that) & THEN try to Resend The Activation Code:
If you have received your activation email, but not an 'account approval' email that's because account approvals aren't emailed to you. ^_^ If you have been waiting for approval for more than a week, please email the admin at kamiya.kaoru@hotmail.com, as the responsibility is on us to approve accounts.
Whenever I try to log in or register, I'm receiving an error message saying that I have been banned from this forum!
If you have been a member of this forum before, and had your account deleted for one reason or another, and feel that this ban is in error, please email the admin at kamiya.kaoru@hotmail.com. We will check our records. Please be sure to include your username, email, and your IP address in that email. You can find out what your IP address is by using http://whatismyipaddress.com . Rest assured, we cannot find out your personal identity or home address by knowing your IP.
If you have never registered with this forum before and are still getting the banned message, please send us an email as well, along with your username and IP. There is a chance that you share an ISP (internet service provider) with one of our banned users, and thus share an IP address. (This is most common with AOL users) Send us an email, and we will allow you on board.
If you already have an account with us and have used it without rule infractions, and are NOT receiving a ban message but rather a page display error (Message: Error - Cannot Access Server), please check this site: http://www.proboards.com . If you get the same page display error, your IP has been blocked from the server itself, or your connection to that server is unavailable. Please provide us your IP, and Solinei will contact the ProBoards Staff and get it removed from the banned list, or instruct you on how to find out if your connection to the server is broken.
I've been getting a gray page and the message 'Too Many Connections, please try again in 30 seconds. What gives?
Too Many Connections errors, or TMC, is not very often experienced here on ProBoards server 85. In the event that this happens, please note that this is beyond the control of ZF's staff. If you receive this message, please look at ProBoards' Server Status Page. If the icon next to server 85 is yellow, please look here in ProBoards Support for a thread concerning TMC on server 85.
In the unlikely event that the server status is RED, that means that server 85 is currently offline. Check the above link to ProBoards Support for a stickied thread on that matter.
Important! With the change in ProBoards' server system, you no longer need a server number to access this forum -- additionally, you can access the forum from -any- server number. If you are still accessing Zathryn through the server 85 URL, and encounter either of these two issues, try either accessing with no server number, or a number that is not 85. If you still encounter an issue, please visit ProBoards Support and check the "Network Status / Server Status" board if there are any threads about accessibility issues; if not, check the "Support Board". If there are no stickied threads in the Support Board, please create a new thread with your issue.
Help! Someone is threatening to hack into my account/this forum!
Relax. ProBoards, in its years of existence, has never been hacked. Hacking, additionally, implies that the person had access to and changed ProBoards software in some way. If they are threatening you or this forum with 'hacking' please realize they are clueless as to what they're saying, because hacking you or this forum would affect every single forum on our server, which, in all likelihood, is not their intent.
What they are doing, is guessing username/password combinations which is not 'hacking', but rather 'cracking' (think of cracking a safe - which is guessing the combination). Finding your username is easy enough, just by looking at a profile. However, there are steps you can take to prevent someone guessing your password.
First of all, make sure that your account password is different from your email password.
If you don't want to do that, that's fine. However, make sure that your username and password are unrelated! For example, if your username is akira, make sure your password isn't 'akira' with a few numbers added to the end, or having to do with an anime/manga series with a character named 'akira'.
In the event that your account is cracked, please email the staff with your email address and username. If your account has been banned, we will unban it. If your email was changed, we will change it back.
Whoa! There is only myself and a (guest) on the forum, but I'm looking at the main page, yet it still says (1 viewing) on a board hidden to guests! What's happening?
If you had not viewed that particular board recently (if you did, that's a ghost of yourself!), then in all likelihood, it is a search engine bot viewing that board. No worries, if it's a registered members only board, all the bot will be able to view is the log-in page.
Hey, what gives? Ever since the upgrade to version 4.5, I'm seeing the sub-board threads in the main board! Is it a glitch or a bug?
No, it's a new feature! Some people didn't like having to view sub-boards, so ProBoards creator Patrick Clinger made a profile-editable option of having sub-board threads show on the parent board. If you don't like this change, go to Profile >> Modify Profile. Scroll down, and there are two new drop down menus under the skin selection:
- Expand Sub-boards. --If this is selected to 'yes', it will show sub-board threads on the parent board.
- Hide Sub-boards. --If you wish to hide sub-boards, select "Yes". This option is only enabled when the previous option also set to yes.
